The NNSA Graduate Fellowship Program (NGFP) is a full-time fellowship program for highly motivated students interested in a career in global nuclear security. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration.

The NGFP is designed to develop exceptional leaders in the field of nuclear security. Careers can emphasize research and technology development, policy, and/or program management. But they are all focused on solving the challenges of combating nuclear terrorism and proliferation while maintaining nuclear safety.

With the stellar qualifications and hands-on experience cultivated during their appointments with NNSA, Fellows are highly desirable by employers in the nuclear security enterprise and related fields.

NGFP alumni can apply their NNSA mission knowledge and experience at agencies and organizations worldwide. Typical employers may include:

Air Force Institute of Technology Los Alamos National Laboratory
Argonne National Laboratory NNSA
Brookhaven National Laboratory National Defense University
Center for Naval Analysis Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Defense Intelligence Agency Office of the Secretary of Defense
Defense Threat Reduction Agency Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
Duke Energy RAND Corporation

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory U.S. Department of State

“We must ensure that terrorists never acquire a nuclear weapon. This is the most immediate and extreme threat to global security. To protect our people, we must act with a sense of purpose without delay.”
